Concrete sealer is the protective coat that is applied to pattern imprinted concrete. It’s used to protect the coloured surface from the sun’s harmful UV rays, oil and fuel stains as well as keeping it easy to maintain.
Most sealed decorative concrete floors can become very slippery when they get wet. If it’s a driveway that has an incline and you have to walk up and down constantly then a surface that gets slippy can become a real problem.

The best kind of concrete sealer grit
The very best kind of concrete sealer grit to choose to apply to your sealer should be one that is almost invisible to see once the sealer has dried. The ones we would recommend are made from polyurethane. These slip resistant additives consists of micronized polymeric beads.
The advantages of using a plastic grit over sand based grits is it is almost invisible to see once applied and the grit is so light that it stays suspended throughout the sealer making for an even distribution of grit to sealer.
There are other materials you could use to create a concrete sealer grit. Silica sand, kiln dried sand and aluminum oxide are often mixed with the sealer and used but the problem with these is that they can often be seen on the surface of the pattern imprinted concrete once the sealer has dried. Which often changes the appearance of coloured imprinted concrete.
In addition to this, because the materials used such as silica, silver and kiln dried sand are heavier than the sealer they tend to sink to the bottom of the can. This then stops the gritty material being evenly distributed onto the surface of the concrete.
